How We Authenticate

Every piece sold by Million Dollar Streetwear is authenticated in-house by Josh, the owner, who has authenticated luxury streetwear for over 10 years. Nothing is listed until it passes. Items that fail are rejected and returned — which happens regularly. If a piece you buy from us ever fails third-party authentication, you get a full refund.

Who does the authentication

Josh, the owner of Million Dollar Streetwear, personally authenticates every item before it is listed. He has authenticated luxury streetwear for over 10 years, with more than 1,600 items sold and a 100% positive seller rating since 2017.

Authentication is not outsourced and it is not delegated. One person, every piece.

What gets rejected

Rejection is routine, not exceptional. Items are turned away regularly — from private sellers, from consignors, and from wholesale lots. A piece that raises any doubt does not get listed, does not get sold at a discount, and does not get passed along with a disclaimer.

What reaches the site is a filtered selection: only pieces that passed authentication and met a condition standard worth putting a name behind.

Why items get rejected

Rejection is routine. Most items that get turned away fail on one of a handful of things:

  • Stamp inconsistency — depth, spacing or font that does not match reference pieces from the same production period
  • Hardware weight — buckles, eyelets and jewelry that come in under the weight of an authentic piece
  • Tag construction — the right font on the wrong weave, or attached the wrong way
  • Wear that does not match age — artificial distressing, or print cracking inconsistent with the claimed year
  • Unverifiable provenance — a seller who cannot say where a piece came from
  • Condition — pieces that are unquestionably authentic but not in condition worth putting our name behind

A piece that raises doubt does not get listed at a discount and does not get passed along with a disclaimer. It goes back.

What we check

Authentication is a comparison process. Every incoming piece is checked against known-authentic reference pieces, and against how the specific model was constructed in the year it was produced. Chrome Hearts construction has changed over time, so a detail that is correct on a 2015 piece may be wrong on a 2023 one.

Hats and caps

  • Stamp depth, crispness and placement — the most common failure point on replicas
  • Font weight, letter spacing and kerning against reference pieces
  • Stitch density and thread consistency, particularly around patches and panels
  • Interior tag construction: weave, font, and how the tag is attached
  • Buckram and crown structure — counterfeits are usually softer and hold shape poorly
  • Hardware weight, plating finish and engraving depth on buckles and eyelets
  • Underside of the brim, where wear patterns and construction shortcuts show first

Apparel

  • Neck tag and wash tag: font, print method, stitch attachment, RN number
  • Print texture, and whether cracking is consistent with the age of the piece
  • Fabric weight and hand feel against a known-authentic garment of the same model
  • Seam construction and stitch count at cuffs, hem and collar
  • Embroidery density and reverse-side finishing
  • Hardware on zip-ups: zipper brand, pull weight, engraving

Jewelry

  • .925 hallmark placement, depth and font
  • Weight — replicas are almost always lighter than the authentic piece
  • Oxidation and patina pattern, which counterfeits rarely reproduce correctly
  • Engraving crispness on dagger, cross and scroll detailing
  • Solder points and finishing on the reverse

Eyewear

  • Hinge construction and screw type
  • Temple engraving depth and font
  • Lens etching where the model carries one
  • Case, cloth and paperwork, and whether they match the model and era

Source

  • Seller history and provenance
  • Whether the piece is consistent with how it was described and where it came from

The guarantee

If any item purchased from Million Dollar Streetwear fails authentication by a recognised third-party service, we refund you in full. That guarantee is backed by a 10-year authentication record and by the fact that the owner's name is attached to every decision.

Condition grading

Authentication and condition are separate judgements. A piece can be unquestionably authentic and still show wear, so every listing carries a condition grade out of 10.

Grade Meaning
10/10 Deadstock. Never worn.
9/10 Excellent. Worn once or twice, no flaws.
8/10 Very good. Light use, no major flaws.
7/10 Good. Visible wear, described in the listing.
Below 7 Heavier wear, always described explicitly.

Flaws, marks, cracking and fading are disclosed on the product page. We would rather lose a sale than surprise a buyer.
